| Indian Bank-Southern Railway e-ticketing facility
at the Egmore railway station inaugurated. |
The Railways would introduce ATM facilities in trains after issues
relating to security of the system inside the train was sorted
out, Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu said.
"The proposal is certainly on and would come into effect after
issues such as security for the machine and the GPS (for connectivity
purposes) are sorted out," he told reporters here after inaugurating
an Indian Bank-Southern Railway e-ticketing facility at the
Egmore railway station.
However, he did not specify a timeframe for the introduction
of the system.
The e-ticketing facility, the "first in India," would help Indian
Bank Debit Card holders book tickets at such ATM centres, Indian
Bank Chairman and Managing Director M S Sundara Rajan said.
"More such ATM centres, from where our customers can not only
book tickets but also print them, are being established in the
country, at railway stations," he added.
