Declaration of 100% CBS Implementation in Indian Bank
and
Launching of Banking Service Centre at Melapoongudi Village

Hon'ble Union Minister of Finance Shri. P. Chidambaram declared
100% CBS (Core Banking Solution) Implementation in Indian
Bank on 22.03.2008 in a function held at Melapoongudi Village,
Okkur Branch, Madurai Circle in Tamilnadu. The Bank's 1523
branches have been brought under CBS. This achievement has
been made within a short span of 3 years and 3 months. Hon'ble
Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Govt.
of Tamilnadu Shri. K.R. Periakaruppan, Indian Bank's Chairman
and Managing Director Shri. M S Sundara Rajan and Executive
Director Shri. A. Subramanian were present on this historic
occasion.

On
this occasion, the Banking Service Centre (BSC) at Melapoongudi
village attached to our Okkur Branch in Madurai Circle was
inaugurated by Hon'ble Union Minister of Finance. This centre
will render financial and non-financial services to the rural
masses and help increasing outreach under Financial Inclusion.
The centre facilitates online Banking transactions, using
internet facility. Reserve Bank of India has accorded permission
for opening such 20 such centres in various parts of the country,
including the one at Melapoongudi village.
